Let’s be real, if you’re even considering a fire lookout for your elopement, you’re already my kind of people. Fire lookouts are the ultimate “do it your way” wedding spot.
That’s exactly what Becca and Tristan did for their Girard Fire Lookout elopement in McCall, California.

Becca reached out to me last year via Instagram, and from our very first conversation, I knew she and Tristan were something special. You know when you instantly click with someone and think, “THEY ARE SO FREAKING COOL, I NEED TO BE FRIENDS WITH THEM”? That was Becca.
A few days before their elopement, Becca and Tristan arrived at Girard Fire Lookout and decorated it with twinkling lights, turning the lookout into a cozy mountaintop home away from home.
We chose a sunrise elopement so Becca and Tristan could exchange vows as the sun illuminated the Castle Crags. The view was unreal — one of those moments you can’t fully capture in words or even photos.
It was quiet, emotional, and filled with golden morning light. The perfect start to their California fire lookout wedding day.
Dreaming of a sunrise ceremony? Let’s make it happen.
After their vows, we filled our coffee cups and wandered through the forest with their two dogs. (If you have pups, bring them, please so I can love on them.)
We captured portraits, laughed, and really soaked in the surrounding nature. The freedom of a CA elopement like this is unmatched, no rushing, no crowds, just the couple, their dogs, and the mountains.
Back at the lookout, Becca and Tristan cut into their cake (yes, cake for breakfast!) and toasted with champagne. Then they made pancakes with fresh berries they had picked the day before, it was so sweet and the pancakes were absolutely delicious.
It was a wedding meal that felt authentic to who they are: fun, intimate, and full of love.
By mid-morning, the heat wave from the day before was starting to set in, so we headed to a nearby waterfall to cool off. Splashing in the water, laughing together, and soaking up the rest of their day made this California fire lookout elopement feel complete.
Becca and Tristan’s day was the perfect example of doing it their way. They celebrated their love in the middle of nature, surrounded by their dogs, pancakes, waterfalls, and jaw-dropping mountain views.
