A Foggy Summer Elopement at Mt. Rainier | Kyle & Valerie’s Wildflower Hike + Tipsoo Lake Picnic
If you’ve ever dreamed of eloping in the Pacific Northwest with fog rolling over the mountains and wildflowers lining the trail, Kyle and Valerie’s Mt. Rainier Elopement will absolutely speak to your soul. Their day on the Naches Peak Loop Trail and Tipsoo Lake was slow, intentional, and filled with beauty in every direction, from quiet sunrise moments at their Airbnb to dancing barefoot on the deck at sunset.
We kicked things off just before 4:00 AM at their Airbnb in Enumclaw. The forest was still asleep, and the only sounds were the coffee brewing and the low hum of anticipation. Valerie slipped into her dress slowly, while Kyle packed up their hiking gear. These quiet, grounding moments before the day began were some of my favorite to capture, so full of softness and presence.
By 5:30 AM, we arrived at the Naches Peak Loop Trailhead, the car slicing through dense mountain fog. At first, we were nervous about visibility, but once we started hiking, the fog rolled over the hills in the most cinematic way, casting a golden, glowy light across the trail.
We took the loop clockwise for the best alpine views, stopping every so often to breathe, take in the wildflowers, and just exist. It wasn’t about rushing to a ceremony or checking boxes. It was about being fully there with each other.
After hiking, we arrived at Tipsoo Lake, where Catherine from Milk and Honey Charcuterie had styled the dreamiest breakfast picnic, complete with a low table, flowers, and fresh food. They sipped on hot coffee from Dillanos Coffee Roasters, soaked in the views, and watched the mountain slowly wake up.
This slow-paced time gave Kyle and Valerie space to just be. They shared a meal, wandered the shoreline, and held hands as they explored the lake under the warm sun light.
Once the morning wrapped, we headed back to their Airbnb. Shoes came off, music went on, and they danced barefoot on the wooden deck just the two of them, sun on their faces, wind in their hair. It was the most organic, beautiful ending to a day designed completely around what mattered most to them.
